Lithuanian Supplier Wins Order from IndiaÆs ICICI
Lithuanian IT company Penki Kontinentai Group has won an ATM software contract from ICICI, the second largest Indian bank. PenkiÆs Banking Technologies (BS/2) subsidiary will supply ICICI with 2,000 units of its ATMeye ATM monitoring system.
BS/2 has had a business relationship with ICICI since 2006, the firm says. In 2007, it supplied nearly 1,500 ATMeye systems to ICICI. According to Penki, at the end of 2007, there were 32,300 ATMs in India. ICICI has nearly 3,700 ATMs in operation, it says. ATMeye uses mini-cameras installed in ATMs to send images of transactions occurring at a cash machine to a bank control center. These images are stored so that bank staff can investigate cases of ATM theft, vandalism and fraud. The ATMeye software allows bank staff to automate their searches for specific images according to parameters such as card numbers or the time and date of the transactions in question. There is no need for staff to manually search through numerous images, Penki says. ôATMeye not only increases the safety of ATMs, but also allows banks to resolve conflict situations with customers,ö says Karolis Macionis, a manager at BS/2. ôIt is an effective means of fighting ATM card skimming.ö Related Links
