Barclaycard Promotes 3-in-1 Transit Card
Barclaycard is asking Londoners to pre-register for BarclayCard OnePulse, its combined credit card, Visa PayWave contactless payment card and Oyster contactless London transit card. The Visa-branded chip-and-PIN card will be launched this September, according to Barclaycard.
Barclaycard has created a Website, where Barclaycard OnePulse applicants can pre-register for the three-in-one product. The Barclaycard OnePulse credit card offers 0 percent interest on purchases for 6 months and charges 14.9 percent interest thereafter. The Oyster component of Barclaycard OnePulse is separate from the Barclaycard credit card component, but can be topped up automatically from the Barclaycard. Last December, Barclaycard won a three-year exclusive deal with TranSys, the consortium which runs Oyster in partnership with Transport For London, to combine the Oyster card and Barclaycard on one piece of plastic. Barclaycard also said it would add VisaÆs contactless technology, Visa PayWave, to Barclaycard OnePulse. As a result, Barclaycard OnePulse is the only UK credit card that combines these three features in one card, says Barclaycard. More than 10 million Oyster cards have been issued so far, and three quarters of all underground and bus payments in London are now made by Oyster card. Since the introduction of the Oyster card, the proportion of cash payments on LondonÆs underground and buses has fallen to less than 5 percent, Barclaycard says. Related Links
