NatWest Launches Polish Migrant Remittance Service

National Westminster Bank (NatWest) has launched a bank account for Polish migrant workers in the UK, which allows them to transfer money to family members in Poland.

The NatWest Welcome account is effectively two accounts in one, NatWest says. Not only does it provide Polish customers in Britain with a current account, but it also offers a Money Transfer Account into which customers are able to transfer funds straight from their current account.

A family member in Poland, who has been nominated by the NatWest Welcome Account holder, can then withdraw funds from the Money Transfer Account via an ATM card, which is provided by NatWest. These cash withdrawals can be made from ATMs in Poland or anywhere in the world, NatWest says.

The NatWest Welcome Account is the first UK bank account where all services are in Polish, including telephone and internet banking, NatWest says.

Prior to launching the account, NatWest carried out market research among the UKĘs 300,000-strong Polish migrant community. NatWest says it discovered that top of their wish list was the need to transfer money to family members in Poland in a cost-effective and secure manner.

NatWest is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland, one of the UKĘs top five banks.
